What is Automail?

Automail is an alternative mail service that allows you to send physical post direct from your PC. It is a secure, high-quality and confidential way of printing and posting that saves you both time and money.

Automail allows you to send physical letters to any NZ address simply by pressing print from within any Windows application. Rather than selecting your local laser or inkjet printer from the printer list, you select “Send It Automail”.

We print it at a location close to where it needs to go, and we print, fold, insert and inkjet your return address on the outside of the envelope, ready-sorted and barcoded for the NZ Post system. There is no need for offset stock, printing, ink, envelopes, stamps or franking.

You can use Automail in the following ways:

Automail has two solutions, one that allows you to mail documents from your existing software and the other that allows you to create letter or campaign templates through an online portal.

Automail PRO is free and installed on any Windows computer. It is ideal for lower volume mailings (1 – 2,000 items per lodgement). This software is just like any print driver, you select Print and select the "Automail" driver from your printer list instead of printing to your local inkjet or laser printer.

Automail Direct allows you to manage all your physical mail campaigns from a single source. You can setup document templates, mail merge and send these, from any computer connected to the web, including Macs. You will have an archive of everything you sent and you can store your databases online for free.

Automail API allows for integration with your current IT systems and your current enterprise software (Oracle, Xero, SAP, MYOB etc.) to send documents direct into our system without any user intervention. This is intended for higher volume users for whom the print driver may not be the best route into our service.

What does Automail do?

Automail is an innovative new system that allows businesses and individuals to send physical post to any NZ address, directly from their computers. Anyone can use it and the software is free. We transmit your letter electronically to a print hub near to where it needs to go from. At the printing hub, all our customers' post is printed ready-sorted for delivery by NZ Post.

How does Automail work?

There are three ways to use Automail:

Automail PRO: Automail print driver
Automail DIRECT: Automail web portal for Mail merging campaigns
Automail API: embed Automail directly into your software application

AUTOMAIL PRO - With the print driver, Automail appears in your printer list, so anything you can print, you can send Automail.

AUTOMAIL DIRECT - The web portal allows you to manually create or upload a document, create or upload a mailing list, and then send the document to every address on that list.

AUTOMAIL API - The API allows your software to communicate directly with our servers to manage the sending of larger volumes of mail with minimal user intervention.

How long does it take to deliver my letter?

We will mail all documents on the same day, if they are received by 12 midday.

How can it save me time?

Your business no longer has to spend time printing, folding and addressing all your correspondence.

How can it save me money?

Holding and managing stock, printing, folding, envelopes, stamps and NZ Post delivery are all included in the price of sending a letter through Automail.

How is it printed?

We print your letter on quality paper, using state of the art Fuji Xerox Colour Laser printers. The print quality is excellent.

What can I send?

You can send up to 7 sheets of single-sided A4 paper (7 sides). These could be letters, statements, receipts, invoices or marketing material.

Why not send an email?

Automail provides the impact of a letter with the ease of an email. Research has shown, that people are more likely to read and respond to a letter than an email.

Why is my post delivered by NZ Post?

Because NZ Post have an incomparable service for door to door delivery and have a delivery network setup.

I have received a letter sent with the service, what does this mean for me?

This means that whoever sent the letter to you is using the Automail service and has saved money on their mailing. They have also reduced the carbon emissions associated with sending you that letter by up to 75%.
